Give to support gospel ministry in the heart of Southend

Before you give

Here’s a short document that outlines some of the things we might want to bear in mind as we approach the subject of giving.

It’s a 5-minute read. Why not take a look at this first, then pray, then give?

Thank you for your generosity and for supporting the ministry of St John’s.

Regular giving

Many people already use their own banking app to easily set up their regular giving – this is the most effective way to give and avoids any fees. If you have online banking, please use these bank details to set up a standing order:

Sort code: 30-97-84
Account number: 00775280
Account name: St John the Baptist PCC

If you don't have online banking, you can use our own platform to set up your monthly giving as a direct debit, but this will incur a small percentage fee. Please click below. Remember to select the ‘frequency’ of the payments

One-off giving

There are so many ways to donate a one-off gift to St John’s

BANK TRANSFER
Using your own banking app with the account details above.

CARD
If you don’t have online banking, you can use our donate platform selecting ‘one-off’ under the frequency option – click here. Alternatively, you can use our secure contactless device located by the entrance of the church.

CASH & CHEQUE
You can send us a cheque made payable to St John the Baptist PCC, or put cash donations into a wooden box next to the entrance to the church and by the contactless device.

Thank you so much for all you give to support the vision of St John’s!

If you pay tax, it helps the church hugely if you sign a gift aid declaration form. This means we can claim an additional 25p for every pound given! For example, a gift of £20 would become £25 with gift aid!

You can download the gift aid form below and hand that in, alternatively you can submit this form electronically on our donate platform, or using our contactless device in church.

Gift Aid

Legacies

You can include St John’s within your will by the addition of a straightforward clause. Gifts from legacies can make an enormous difference to the life of the church and the progress of its mission. Even a small percentage of the residuary estate can be a considerable amount, and contribute significantly to the work of our church. To help you consider what you possess and who you would like to give it to, see this template to help.

There are a number of schemes for free will writing, and low-cost will writing. Have a look at this summary: Free will-writing

To give a share of your estate to St John’s, use this wording: “I give ______ % of my residuary estate free of all taxes to the Parochial Church Council of the parish of St John the Baptist, Southend (registered charity number: 1194402) in the Diocese of Chelmsford for its general purposes, and I declare that the receipt of an officer of the Parochial Church Council shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors and trustees.”

Registered Charity
